ptsd, negative and positive Emotions, substance use, & HIV/sexual risk

The goal of this study is to examine the role of emotion dysfunction stemming from negative and positive emotions (assessed via self-report, behavioral, and psychophysiological measures) in posttraumatic stress symptoms and related substance use and HIV/sexual risk. These associations will be examined in the laboratory and in the real world via daily assessments (3 times a day for 30 days). This study is funded by a 5-year grant from the National Institute on Drug Abuse (PI: Weiss).

Evaluating PTSD's E2 Criterion

In collaboration with Drs. Ateka Contractor and Katherine Dixon-Gordon, Dr. Weiss is developing and validating a measure for assessing PTSD's E2 criterion (self-destructive or reckless behavior).

Cultural factors impacting ptsd, emotion dysfunction, and risk-taking
