Shannon forkus

Shannon is a second year Behavioral Science PhD student at the University of Rhode Island. She is a graduate student researcher in the Self-Evaluation, Stress, and Health Lab, as well as a data analyst at Rhode Island Hospital. Her research focuses on threat-related processing and how distorted thinking, negative self-appraisals, and self-conscious emotions contribute to various mental health outcomes in trauma-exposed populations. She is particularly interested in the role of self-criticism, self-blame, and shame. Her current work is examining moral injury in post-deployed veterans and the effects of acute stress on visual threat perception.
